William Basinski

William Basinski is an American avant-garde composer and experimental musician from Houston, Texas, who established himself in the New York experimental scene from the 1980s and works primarily in ambient and tape-based music. His work employs decaying tape loops, field recordings and analogue processing to produce long-form ambient pieces that meditate on memory, time and decay through repetitive structures and gradual transformation.
