Ruth Crawford Seeger

Ruth Crawford Seeger was an American composer from East Liverpool, Ohio, who emerged in the 1920s and worked within the modernist classical tradition. Her early compositions are characterised by dissonant counterpoint and experimental techniques associated with the American modernist movement, and from the 1930s she shifted toward folk-song collection, arrangement and educational work that helped document and disseminate American vernacular music.
