English Opera Group
The English Opera Group was an English opera company formed in 1947 to create and tour new and chamber operas, particularly for small-scale venues and festivals. Emphasising economical orchestration and adaptable staging, the company championed contemporary British opera through premieres and touring productions and contributed to the development of mid-20th-century British operatic practice and festival culture.
