Joseph Marx

Joseph Marx was an Austrian composer and music educator born in Graz in 1882 whose career began in the early 20th century within the classical tradition. His music is characterised by a late-Romantic tonal language with rich harmonic colour and lush orchestration across orchestral works, piano pieces and expansive art songs, and he contributed to Austrian musical life through teaching and criticism.
