Vernon Reid is an American guitarist and composer who began his career in New York City in the early 1980s, founding and leading the rock band Living Colour and working across genres including rock, funk, metal and jazz fusion. His musical approach mixes virtuosic guitar technique with improvisation, effects-driven experimentation and elements of punk, funk and avant-garde jazz, and his work has engaged with racial and social themes within the rock tradition and in broader cross-genre collaborations.
