Ed "Cass" Cassidy

Ed "Cass" Cassidy was an American drummer who began his professional career in the mid‑20th century and co‑founded the rock band Spirit in Los Angeles in 1967, performing primarily in rock with strong psychedelic and jazz influences. His drumming fused jazz techniques with rock rhythms, and over his career he helped steer the band's sound toward a blend of rock, psychedelia and jazz‑rock, aligning with wider late‑1960s and 1970s experiments in genre fusion.
