Jean‐Jacques Rousseau

Jean-Jacques Rousseau was a Genevan-born composer, writer and theorist active from the mid-18th century who worked within early classical and operatic genres. He composed works such as the opera Le Devin du Village, published writings on music and aesthetics, and his musical criticism and compositions shaped contemporary debates about performance practice and the social role of music.
