Johann Theile

Johann Theile was a German Baroque composer born in Saalfeld in 1646 who began his career in the 1660s composing for churches and courts and produced both sacred and secular music. His oeuvre, which includes operas, cantatas, masses and instrumental pieces, reflects an Italianate vocal influence merged with Lutheran church traditions and contributed to the development of the German sacred concerto and early Baroque vocal style.
