Allen Toussaint

Allen Toussaint was an American musician from New Orleans who began his career in the 1950s as a pianist, songwriter and producer working primarily in R&B, soul and funk. His piano-centred arrangements, characteristic syncopated and second-line rhythms, and skill as an arranger and producer helped define the New Orleans R&B sound and informed recordings across soul, funk and pop throughout his career.
