Leó Weiner was a Hungarian composer and educator born in Budapest in 1885 who trained at and later taught at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music and worked mainly in the classical tradition, composing chamber music, orchestral pieces and piano works. His style combined late-Romantic harmony and contrapuntal technique with elements drawn from Hungarian folk music, and his compositions and teaching helped shape Hungary's musical culture in the first half of the 20th century.
