Arthur Butterworth

Arthur Butterworth was an English composer and conductor born in Ilkley, Yorkshire, whose career began in the mid-20th century within the classical music tradition. His output includes symphonies, concertos and choral works that draw on English pastoral and symphonic traditions, characterised by lyrical melodies, rich orchestration and an adherence to tonal structures.
