François Borne

François Borne was a French flautist and composer active from the late 19th century who worked within the classical tradition and concentrated on music for solo flute and chamber ensemble. He wrote virtuosic showpieces, pedagogical études and operatic transcriptions—including a fantasia on themes from Bizet's Carmen—which have been used in flute teaching and recital repertoire in France and internationally.
