Francisco de Peñalosa

Francisco de Peñalosa was a Spanish Renaissance composer active in the late 15th and early 16th centuries, working chiefly within the liturgical traditions of Spain and producing primarily sacred music. His output of masses, motets and villancicos is characterised by careful contrapuntal technique and clear textual emphasis, reflecting both Iberian musical practices and the influence of the Franco-Flemish style on Spanish sacred polyphony.
