The Nutcracker Op. 71

Album by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky & Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra & Vladimir Fedoseyev

The Nutcracker, Op. 71 is a ballet score by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, composed in 1892. Stylistically it is a Romantic-era ballet work characterised by colourful orchestration, clear dance rhythms and vivid orchestral textures, and it represents a late-career example of Tchaikovsky's ballet writing that followed his earlier ballets and helped shape the subsequent ballet repertory.
