Late String Quartets

Album by Franz Schubert & Fitzwilliam String Quartet

Late String Quartets is a collection of late string quartets by Austrian composer Franz Schubert, composed between 1824 and 1828. They are rooted in early Romantic chamber music, have lyrical melodies alongside bold harmonic shifts and sudden contrasts of mood, and are among his final works that show his late style with expanded formal scope and heightened expressive intensity within the chamber repertoire.
