Lieder is a collection of art songs by Austrian composer Franz Schubert, composed between 1814 and 1828. These works set German poetry for solo voice and piano, characterised by lyrical melodic lines, inventive harmonic progressions and closely integrated piano accompaniment, and they occupy a formative place in Schubert's output and in the development of the Romantic Lied.
