Symphony No. 9 is the ninth symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1909. The work exemplifies late-Romantic orchestral writing, combining expansive form, intense chromaticism and moments of grandeur alongside prolonged, sombre introspection, and is Mahler's final completed symphony that reflects his late-career preoccupation with mortality and fragmented lyricism.
