Symphony no. 7
Album by Gustav Mahler & Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich & David Zinman
Symphony No. 7 is the seventh symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, composed in 1904–1905 and first performed in 1908. A late-Romantic orchestral work in five movements, it juxtaposes nocturnal atmospheres with more extroverted passages, employs expanded orchestral colour including mandolin and guitar, and occupies a transitional place in Mahler's symphonic output between his Sixth and Eighth symphonies.
