Symphony no. 9

Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique & Sir John Eliot Gardiner & Monteverdi Choir

Symphony No. 9 is the ninth symphony by German composer Ludwig van Beethoven, completed in 1824. An expansive Romantic-period symphony that culminates in a choral finale for soloists and choir, it marks Beethoven's late period and is characterised by extended structures, bold harmonic language and contrapuntal textures, and occupies a pivotal place as his final completed symphony composed while he was profoundly deaf.
