Mysterious Mountains
Album by Alan Hovhaness & Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra & Gerard Schwarz
Mysterious Mountain is a symphony (Symphony No. 2, Op. 132) by American composer Alan Hovhaness, composed in 1955. The work blends modal melodies influenced by Armenian and other Eastern musical traditions with expansive, meditative orchestral textures, and occupies a notable place in Hovhaness's mid-century output as a statement of his mystical, modal compositional approach.
