Tchaikovsky: The Nutcracker
Album by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky & Queensland Symphony Orchestra & Werner Andreas Albert
The Nutcracker is a ballet score by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, composed and first performed in 1892. The music exemplifies late-Romantic orchestral writing, combining dance forms with vivid orchestration and distinctive instrumental colours, and it occupies an important place in Tchaikovsky's late output and in the ballet and orchestral repertory.
