Violin Sonatas

Violin Sonatas is a collection of two violin sonatas by Sergei Prokofiev, composed between 1943 and 1946. Musically they combine neoclassical forms and a modern harmonic language with moments of lyrical warmth and demanding virtuosity, the second sonata having been adapted from a flute work, and they are representative of Prokofiev's chamber music from the wartime and immediate post-war period.
