The Promise is a compilation album by American singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen, released in 2010. Drawn largely from outtakes and alternate recordings from the late 1970s, particularly the sessions for his 1978 album Darkness on the Edge of Town, it presents heartland rock and roots-orientated arrangements in rawer, demo-like performances that document a transitional phase in Springsteen's songwriting and band sound.
