The 24 Caprices for Solo Violin, Op. 1, are a set of virtuosic solo violin compositions by Italian violinist Niccolò Paganini, composed between 1802 and 1817 and first published in 1819. Characterised by extreme technical demands, wide-ranging tempi and inventive use of left-hand and bowing techniques, the caprices expanded the technical possibilities of the violin and occupy a central place in the instrument's repertoire and pedagogy.
