Symphony no. 6

Album by Gustav Mahler & Česká filharmonie & Václav Neumann

Symphony No. 6 is the sixth symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, composed in 1903–04 and first performed in 1906. A late-Romantic orchestral work characterised by expansive orchestration, stark dynamic contrasts and the notable use of hammer-like percussion, it occupies a pivotal place in Mahler's symphonic output as a bridge between his middle and late-period writing.
