Bluebeard's Castle is the complete opera by Hungarian composer Béla Bartók, composed in 1911. The one-act expressionist work features dark, colouristic orchestration, modal and folk-inflected motifs supporting two principal voices in a psychologically driven dramatisation, and it is Bartók's only completed opera, marking a pivotal point towards his mature modernist idiom within early 20th-century Hungarian music.
