Symphony No. 9
Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Wiener Philharmoniker & Claudio Abbado
Symphony No. 9 is a symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, completed and premiered in 1824. The work combines large orchestral forces with vocal soloists and a chorus in the final movement, expanding the symphonic form through extended structures, contrapuntal writing and dramatic dynamic contrasts, and it is Beethoven's final completed symphony, composed in his late period and influential on later nineteenth-century symphonic practice.
