Symphony no. 2

Album by Gustav Mahler & Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra & Eliahu Inbal

Symphony No. 2 is the second symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1894 and first performed in 1895. A large-scale late-Romantic work scored for expanded orchestra and chorus, it combines expansive orchestral writing with a final choral movement to explore themes of life, death and resurrection and marks a significant development in Mahler's approach to the symphonic form.
