Symphony no. 7

Album by Gustav Mahler & Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks & Mariss Jansons

Symphony No. 7 is a symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, premiered in Prague in 1908. A late-Romantic, large-scale orchestral work that juxtaposes expansive, often brooding passages with lighter, scherzo-like episodes and varied orchestral colour, it employs unusual instrumental effects and tonal ambiguity and occupies a transitional place in Mahler's output between his earlier expansive symphonies and his later, more austere works.
