Syrinx

Album by Claude Debussy & Frédéric Chaslin & Karl-Heinz Schütz

Syrinx is a solo flute piece by French composer Claude Debussy, composed in 1913. The work exemplifies Debussy's Impressionist language through its modal inflections, chromatic turns, flexible rhythm and focus on timbre and expressive colour, and it appears near the end of his career as a concise study of solo instrumental sonority that became central to the 20th-century flute repertoire.
