Lachrimae
Album by John Dowland & Capella de Ministrers & Carles Magraner
Lachrimae, or Seaven Teares is a collection of consort music by English Renaissance composer John Dowland, published in 1604. The pieces are rooted in lute and viol consort traditions and are characterised by modal melodies, expressive melancholy and intricate contrapuntal writing, marking a shift towards more instrumental consort music in Dowland's output and exerting influence on contemporaneous English and continental repertoire.
