Cello Sonatas

Album by Johannes Brahms & Steven Isserlis & Peter Evans

Cello Sonatas are two sonatas for cello and piano by Johannes Brahms, composed in 1865 and 1886. They combine Romantic melodic writing with dense pianistic textures and structural rigour, reflecting Brahms's development from his earlier chamber works to his later, more condensed style and forming an important element of the 19th-century cello repertoire.
