Symphony no. 4
Album by Gustav Mahler & London Symphony Orchestra & Harold Farberman & Corinne Curry
Symphony No. 4 is the fourth symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1900. Smaller in scale than his later symphonies, it features more transparent orchestration, classical forms and dance-like rhythms, and concludes with a soprano solo presenting a child's vision of heaven, placing the work at a transitional point between Mahler's earlier song-influenced pieces and his subsequent, more expansive symphonic works.
