Cello Sonatas
Album by Camille Saint‐Saëns & Christian Poltéra & Kathryn Stott
Cello Sonatas are a set of two sonatas for cello and piano by French composer Camille Saint-Saëns, composed in 1872 and 1905. Rooted in the Romantic tradition, the works combine classical sonata forms with lyrical melodies, virtuosic cello writing and rich harmonic colour, and they bookend Saint‑Saëns's middle and late creative periods, reflecting his evolution from traditional Romanticism toward a more concise late style.
