Lachrimæ
Album by John Dowland & Thomas Dunford & Ruby Hughes & Reinoud Van Mechelen & Paul Agnew & Alain Buet
Lachrimæ, or Seaven Teares is a collection of consort music by English lutenist and composer John Dowland, published in 1604. The music is written for lute and viol consort and is characterised by melancholic modal melodies, dense polyphony and expressive ornamentation, making it a key example of Dowland's mature style and of the late Elizabethan consort repertoire.
