Messiah
Album by George Frideric Handel & London Philharmonic Orchestra
Messiah is an oratorio by George Frideric Handel, composed in 1741 and first performed in 1742. The work is a large-scale Baroque sacred composition for soloists, chorus and orchestra that exemplifies Handel's dramatic choral writing and contrapuntal technique, and it represents a major statement in his English-period output and in the development of the oratorio genre.
