Scheherazade

Album by Nikolai Andreyevich Rimsky‐Korsakov & New York Philharmonic & Alan Gilbert

Scheherazade is a symphonic suite by Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, composed in 1888. The four-movement orchestral work employs exoticised modes and vivid orchestration with a prominent solo violin part suggesting a storytelling voice, exemplifying Rimsky-Korsakov's mastery of orchestral colour and his contribution to Russian nationalist music.
