The Planets

The Planets is an orchestral suite by English composer Gustav Holst, composed between 1914 and 1916 and first performed in 1918. The seven-movement suite uses expansive orchestration, vivid rhythmic motifs and novel harmonic colouration to evoke astrological characters, and it occupies a central place in Holst's output while influencing twentieth-century orchestral writing.
