Vanessa
Album by Samuel Barber & Eleanor Steber & Nicolai Gedda & Rosalind Elias & Giorgio Tozzi & Regina Resnik & Dimitri Mitropoulos & Metropolitan Opera Orchestra & Metropolitan Opera Chorus
Vanessa is an opera by American composer Samuel Barber, first performed in 1958. Musically it draws on mid-20th-century, post-Romantic lyricism with lush orchestration, expansive vocal lines and a primarily tonal harmonic language, and it marked an important moment in Barber's career as part of the American operatic repertoire.
