String Quartets, op. 59 Nos. 1 & 3
Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Brandis Quartett
String Quartets, Op. 59 Nos. 1 & 3 are two of the three Razumovsky string quartets by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed in 1806. They exemplify Beethoven's middle-period expansion of the string quartet, combining dense contrapuntal writing, dramatic contrasts and increased technical demands that broadened the expressive and formal possibilities of the genre.
