Musically it blends jazz, soul-jazz and jazz-funk, featuring warm electric-guitar-led melodies over R&B-influenced grooves and polished arrangements, and it occupies a transitional place in Benson's career just prior to his crossover into more mainstream pop and smooth-jazz success later in the 1970s.
