Symphony no. 6
Album by Gustav Mahler & Minnesota Orchestra & Osmo Vänskä
Symphony No. 6 is the sixth symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1904. The work is a large-scale late-Romantic orchestral composition characterised by sweeping melodic gestures, stark dynamic contrasts, dense and colourful orchestration and a dramatic structural trajectory that marks it as a pivotal point in Mahler's symphonic output and in the broader development of early 20th-century symphonic writing.
