The Planets

The Planets is an orchestral suite by English composer Gustav Holst, completed in 1916. Scored for large orchestra, the seven-movement suite uses vivid orchestration, distinctive brass and percussion sonorities, shifting metres and contrasting moods to evoke astrological characters, and it occupies a prominent place in Holst's output and in early 20th-century British orchestral repertoire.
