Kullervo
Album by Jean Sibelius & Atlanta Symphony Orchestra & Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus & Charlotte Hellekant & Nathan Gunn & Robert Spano
Kullervo is a large-scale symphonic work by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, composed and first performed in 1892. Drawing on the Finnish Kalevala and scored for orchestra with male chorus and vocal soloists, it combines Romantic orchestral writing with dramatic vocal passages and occupies a formative place in Sibelius's output as an early work that anticipates his later symphonies.
