Messiah is an English-language oratorio by George Frideric Handel, composed in 1741 and first performed in Dublin in 1742. The work blends Baroque choral and orchestral textures with solo vocal writing, recitatives and choruses, and is representative of Handel's mature style and of the English Baroque oratorio tradition.
