Messiah
Album by George Frideric Handel & Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra & Huddersfield Choral Society & Sir Malcolm Sargent
Messiah is an oratorio by the German-born Baroque composer George Frideric Handel, composed in 1741 and first performed in Dublin in 1742. The work blends choral, solo and orchestral forces in a three-part structure that sets biblical texts to Handel's dramatic Baroque idiom, and it occupies a central place in both Handel's output and the wider choral-orchestral tradition of the 18th century.
