Hungarian Dances is a set of 21 piano pieces for four hands by Johannes Brahms, composed between 1869 and 1880. The pieces draw on Hungarian and Romani dance melodies and rhythms, are characterised by lively tempi, syncopated figures and stark contrasts, and they helped bring Central European folk-inspired material into the concert repertoire while marking an important early success in Brahms's career.
