String Quartets Op. 50, 1-3

Album by Joseph Haydn & Amati Quartet

String Quartets Op. 50, Nos. 1-3 are three of the six string quartets by Austrian composer Joseph Haydn, composed in 1787. They exemplify Classical-era string quartet writing with balanced interplay between two violins, viola and cello, employing contrapuntal textures and formal experimentation and representing a mature phase in Haydn's chamber music that influenced the later development of the quartet repertoire.
