Serenades for Strings and Winds

Album by Antonín Dvořák & London Philharmonic Orchestra & Christopher Hogwood

Serenades for Strings and Winds are two orchestral serenades by Czech composer Antonín Dvořák, composed in 1875 and 1878. They exemplify late-Romantic orchestral writing with lyrical, folk-influenced melodies, transparent chamber-like textures and buoyant rhythms, and mark a step in Dvořák's middle-period development toward larger-scale orchestral works.
