The Tender Land is an opera by American composer Aaron Copland, premiered in 1954. Musically it combines Copland's folk-influenced tonal language and transparent orchestration with elements of mid‑century American modernism, and it occupies a place in his output as his principal full-length operatic work exploring rural American life and vernacular song forms.
